The large site allowed the development of an extensive design program to create adequate scales both for just a few occupants or lots of guests.
The defining elements of this project are: the beach facing volume, which has a roof garden supported by two stone walls at the sides and houses the living room/terrace; the central garden that separates the house’s public space from the private space; and the orthogonal volumes where the bedrooms and other rooms are located.
We didn’t simply create an internal garden – we created continuous air flow channels by also distancing the volume that includes the upper bedrooms from the rest of the house. The air comes from the beach through the living room and its balconies, fills the garden and flows unblocked throughout the two stories where the bedrooms are, providing visual levity and thermal comfort.
